Aurelio and Trinidad Lara Scholarship
Aurelio and Trinidad Lara were both born and raised in Santa Rosa, Zacatecas, Mexico. They were taught at an early age the value of dedication and hard work. Unfortunately, growing up they were never given the opportunity of a formal education. Knowing that they wanted a better future for their growing family they made the sacrifice of leaving everything behind and migrating to the United States.
In 1979 they settled with their family in Woodlake, California. They spent the next 22 years working in agriculture, picking grapes, oranges, olives, lemons, etc. Their children often joined them working in the fields in order to make ends meet. Aurelio and Trinidad worked tirelessly to support and provide for their family of seven. They encouraged them to always do their best by setting a good example for them to follow.
Although their resources were limited, they somehow managed to help other families in need. Aurelio and Trinidad consistently encouraged their children to go to school and pursue their education, so they too could help others.
They are now enjoying their retirement surrounded by the love of their seven children, 23 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Once again, they now take great pride and pleasure in being able to assist a deserving scholar get closer to achieving their educational goals.
